"I have two sisters. Our parents divorced when I was 11. My parents then handed us over to Christian neighbors. Thanks to God they were nice people and took us to hostel to study. After living in hostel for 3 years, I came to Apple of God’s Eyes and completed my studies. I now live with my sister and brother in law. My dream is to be an Accountant or Auditor, so after high school I started to collect money by asking my eldest sister and saving my own salary, but later I came to know that those money were not enough. But I always had a hope and faith that one day I could fulfill my wish. Now, thanks to RIEI, that day has come!"

"I never spent my childhood with my family because my father wanted a son, but I was born. When I was 6 he left me, my sister and my mother was pregnant with my younger brother. At the age of 7, my mother sent me to an orphanage. I stayed more than 2 years. Then my mother came and got me and sent to me a tea shop to work. I stayed there and the owner promised my mother she would allow me to go to school and pay for it. I did all the work for her, but she never kept her promise. Because of my wish and desire to study, I left that place and went back to my mom. Then I found out about Apple of God's Eyes and I could see that my dream to study could be fulfilled. My mother told me not to go as I was grown up and could work. I was 10 years old. But I did go to Apple, and a blessed day started. Finally, I could study and be in a family environment. I finished high school and started to help in Apple office. I decided to go back to my mother and look after her and my brother. My salary was enough for the daily expenses of house, to pay the rent, and keep my younger brother in high school, but I wanted to go to college. I want to be a social worker, which takes 3 years. I worked extra hours, borrowed money from friends, saved all I could and with lots of struggle paid for my first two years. I never gave up. But now I am stuck, and I cannot complete my last year to earn my bachelors in Social Work until I found out about RIEI scholarships for Apple students. Thanks to RIEI now I can complete my degree and get a job with a social organization and serve Nepal and people who have suffered like me."

"At the age of six, I was working in a small tea shop, but my dream was to go to school. When I turned nine, my life changed for the better. I was taken to Apple of God's Eye, a place I soon began to call "home," where I was provided a safe place to live, food, and the opportunity to go to school. The village where I was born is one of the least developed districts in Nepal. Most of the people are illiterate because there is little access to education. Child marriage, child labor, and human trafficking are huge problems here. I want to study business and focus on empowering women. I want to provide young girls with the chance to realize and utilize their talents through entrepreneurial opportunities."

"My father left us when I was 6. My mother started small job of selling vegetables on the road to earn money for me and my brother and sister. The money was just enough for us to pay for 1 room rent and 2 meals a day. She could not put us in school or raise us properly because she was often sick and did not have a good job. I started to live with my friends and roam around with a bad friend circle. My life went like this for 1 or 2 years. When I was 11 one of my friend told me about The Apple of God's Eyes ministry where I could ask for shelter and education. It totally changed my life, especially I got chance to know God and his love towards me. I stayed 11 years at Apple and completed high school. Now I am once again living with my mother and brother, and working as a Field Assistant at Apple. Through this job, I am supporting my mother and brother, and making it possible for my brother to stay in high school. My sister lives at Apple. I want to study Sociology to help people in rural areas. I want to serve people in need."

"My father and mother are farmers. I have two sisters and one brother. Due to economic problems me and my small brother and sister have lived at Apple of God’s Eyes since I was 7. My father and mother still live in our village, but the earthquake destroyed our home. My village name is Kavre. It is a very beautiful place, but there are many problems there, a lack of schools, proper drinking water, hospital, communication, road, the trafficking of girls. People have to walk 3 to 4 hours to get medical treatment, and due to lack of education the people in my village still follow child marriage, first priorities to sons, cast system, different religion. I want to become a Nurse because I know the importance of health and my motive is to serve people. For me nursing is the best way to express love, care and spreading hopes to people. Money is not my God. I live by faith. I want to change the concept of my people and have modern thought towards educating everyone in an equal manner, allowing them to gain quality of life. I know it’s hard to bring change in months or a few years, but I want to become one of those who are trying to bring change in Nepal. I’m searching for opportunities to serve my people so that they won’t have to face the same problems I had to face. Nursing might be a small part in medical field, but I think it is also very important, because Health is Wealth."

"My family was very poor. We didn't have enough food and there was no money to go school. When I was 4 my father died. My mother used to work in small hotel washing dishes and from there she bring us food without eating herself. I loved to study a lot but my mother didn't have money to send me and my sisters to school. I started sleeping and begging on the street. People used to say many bad words and humiliate me and sometime people used to beat and kick me but I didn't stop begging, and with this little money I used to give my mother and she would buy food. My older sister worried about me and she found a family for me to do house work for. This was also very hard. The owner dominate me so I ran away and went back to the streets. I was only 9. I started to work as a laborer and carry the basket of sand on my back and per day I used to get less than one dollar and this money I give to my mother. At last my sister found Apple of Gods Eyes Ministry. When I came to Apple I got all the dreams I wanted. I could study, and I could dream. I always give thanks to Lord Jesus for this opportunity. My dream is to earn a Bachelor in Sociology. I want to help Nepalese girls and children. I want to work in the field of anti-trafficking. I want to help girls who were trafficked and I want to teach girls who are at risk for trafficking how to avoid it."

"When I was a baby my parents separated. My mum could not afford to send me to school. My grand mum suggested they send me to Kathmandu to an organization when I was only 5 or 6. I started school at 7. I think I am the first child to get better education in Kathmandu from my village, so I gave it my full heart. I think maybe someday I might be a nurse. I was living in a hostel then, but the man in charge abused the girls. In that hostel my life was like a hell. We prayed to God for help, and He gave us Apple of God’s Eyes, the total opposite of that hostel. Now I’m getting everything I need. I am so thankful to God for this big opportunity, and to finally have a big and understanding family. I am really happy. My dreams also rise up day by day that maybe I can become a nurse. I am asking God to use my life to help other people and to bring change in my village. I want to give voluntary service in remote areas and encourage the people for education."

"I had to leave all my family and friends at an early age to live at Apple of God’s Eyes Ministry, because my parents could not take care of me. People at Apple were really good and helpful. I’m lucky to complete my high school education by the financial aid of this ministry. Now I want to study bachelor in Hotel Management for my university level. There are many opportunities in hotel management in Nepal. Tourism industry is one of the major source of income for Nepalese economy. Hotel is one of the major aspects of tourism. My dream is to establish my own hotels for the development of tourism in Nepal. I could also offer free hotel management training for the underprivileged people of Nepal."

"I am from a remote village and large, poor family. Due to the large number of siblings in my family it was very hard for my parents to afford school. There was also physical abuse in our home. After a few years, my parents sent us to different cities to work. I was 7 years old. I worked for a family as their household worker, but they would not pay me. I was not allowed to watch movies or any tv. Son of the owner used to beat me without any reason. I was mentally and physically tortured at that place, so I ran away. There was no hope to continue my education. I went back to village and started to live with my family again. When I was 9 my father was killed. My life was full of challenges. Thankfully, later I got to know about Apple of God Eyes Ministry. By the grace of God, Apple brought me and my sisters to be part of their family. I got the chance to go to school and have a loving family. I recently completed high school, and now I am working at Apple. With my salary I help my family. I want to get a degree in Public Health, and serve the people in remote areas and help in the development and improvement of Nepal. I want to research the diseases and living standard of people in remote areas. My research can be used by our government to make policies regarding new diseases and their remedies to the remote areas. Through my service, I want to reach people who don’t know our God."

"I grew up in Kathmandu city, in a family of 5. My father supported us by driving a small tempo (taxi). Everything was going well, but then the government banned the use of tempos and my father became jobless. It was a very hard time, and our situation became worse day by day. I started working at a small tea shop washing dishes, clothes and other household duties. I had a dream to study but there was no way. I felt hopeless. I began to roam around with friends and got surrounded by bad friends. I made some bad decisions in the next 3 – 4 years. I was lost. But praise the Lord my life changed in 2003. I learned about Apple of God’s Eyes. I found not only a home there, but also the love of God and Christ. I started to study and learn more things about life. I got victory on quitting bad habits. I finished high school, and In 2013, I decided to live with my family again in order to support their needs through my job as an office assistant at Apple. I want to study Computer Technology in college. I genuinely want to work collaborating with NGO’s and INGO’s and help those in need. I want to start different projects initiating work plan for improving the backward society."

"My father left my mother when I was 2 years old because mother gave birth to two daughters instead of a son. After he left us it was really hard for her to feed and to provide education for us, so I came to Kathmandu and stayed in organization. I stayed there for 6 years before I moved to Apple of God’s Eyes. My life was common and simple. Sometimes it was happy, and sometimes it was sad. My dream is to be a Nurse, because I want to serve the people of my country. As Nepal is a developing country, it needs nurses to see and serve people. We don’t know when and how things will happen, like earthquakes, so I don’t want my people waiting for doctors and nurses of other countries."
